STM Associates has been retained by a gold exploration and development company to find a Permitting & Environmental Affairs Manager for their proposed mining operation in northern Utah.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead project permitting efforts through applicable consultant engagement and coordination, and development of timely regulatory agency submittals and coordination.
- Provide field leadership for environmental compliance across exploration, drilling, geotechnical, hydrogeological, metallurgical, and site development activities.
- Monitor site activities for compliance with applicable federal, state, county, and project-specific environmental requirements, permits, plans, and standard operating procedures.
- Conduct routine environmental inspections of active work areas, access roads, drill sites, fuel and chemical storage areas, water management features, waste handling areas, and contractor laydown yards.
- Serve as the on-site environmental point of contact for contractors and employees, providing direction on environmental expectations, work practices, and corrective actions.
Qualifications:
- 10+ years of environmental and permitting experience, specifically with DOGM, BLM, & NEPA
- Experience supporting major permitting efforts in mining or large-scale industrial projects
- Strong understanding of environmental regulations, compliance, and field operations
- Proven ability to work in development-stage projects with shifting priorities
- Environmental experience in Utah would be a strong plus
